Common Questions
Do I have to file a claim?
Filing a claim is usually necessary after an accident, especially if you are at fault. In many covered claims, you typically only pay your deductible and we handle the rest. In many covered claims, you typically only pay your deductible and we handle the rest.
When should I report my claim?
The time limit to file a claim differs from state to state, but it is always a good idea to file as soon as possible. The sooner a claim is reported, the sooner we can begin investigating the loss and evaluating available coverages and damages. Please keep in mind that your claim is always subject to the terms of your policy, the type and amount of coverage you purchased, and the circumstances of the accident.
How do I obtain an estimate?
The fastest and easiest way to obtain an estimate is to visit an auto repair shop. However, in some cases, an adjuster will inspect the vehicle and write the estimate themselves. Your claims adjuster will help you decide which option is best.
How long will it take to resolve my claim?
There is no standard time frame for the claims process. It can take anywhere from a few days to several months depending on several factors, such as the severity of the accident and the extent of the investigation. However, straightforward, undisputed claims with minor damages are usually resolved in a few days.
How can I get an update on my claim?
You can get updates on your claim by calling your claims adjuster.
What if my repairs cost more than your estimate?
The auto shop will submit a supplemental estimate, which the adjuster will review. If the additional costs are warranted and covered, an additional payment will be issued.

How is fault determined after an accident?
Fault is determined by a claims adjuster’s investigation that takes into account state statutes and the involved parties’ statements, as well as any other available evidence such as police reports, witness statements, and/or video of the incident.
Who pays my deductible if I'm not at fault?
If another party is determined to be legally responsible for the accident, that party or their insurer may be responsible for covered damages. However, if you use your own coverage for faster service or if there is a liability dispute, you pay the deductible up front and we will attempt to recover it from the at-fault party and refund it to you later on.
Does my policy cover a rental car while mine is being repaired?
A rental is covered during repairs only if rental coverage has been purchased and added to your policy, and only for repairs related to a covered incident — not mechanical breakdown.
